So, I've got like, maybe a week left in this swank hotel place, and I have no idea where to look for a place to live. Prices are different than home, so I'm not sure what's reasonable and what's not. Anyone got any recommendations? Not like I need a lot of space. Just a little place with running water and electricity that isn't too roach-infested. With a good solid lock on the door. I don't quite trust my shield spell when I can't feel a weave.

[The man on the feed is bald with a nicely trimmed goatee. His dark eyes hold a warm light to them, even with the frown currently on his face. He's got an interesting get-up on, too. A black shirt with grey from his chest to his shoulders; it has a high collared shirt under that's a deep red. His comm badge and rank insignia have been removed.

I don’t know this planet. It seems to be mostly populated by humans, but the technology is far behind what I’m used to. Nobody seems to be hostile, just frustratingly uncooperative. And not intimidated by lightsabers despite being unarmed...

Either way, assuming I was told the truth about this device, I need someone to tell me about this place, and how could I leave. I don’t have time to waste on someone else’s agenda.

The PIC begins broadcasting a video, showing nothing in particular at first but a large black blur and some muffled sounds. There's quite a bit of static on the line, the whole feed dissolving into snow and white noise for a few seconds as whoever is holding it turns the device around. It eventually orients toward whoever is holding it, and a handsome young man with grey eyes can be seen peering intently down, focusing on something just off-screen. He has a sort of lazy grace to him, and there is something aristocratic in his posture and expression.

Then he focuses on the screen and his face breaks into the sort of grin that opens doors, invites confidences and breaks hearts, and things tilt again as he sets the PIC down and leans back. He's in his late teens and wearing a motorcycle jacket and a dog collar at stark odds with the initial impression of fussiness. The fuzz and interference stops immediately after he lets go and sits back to regard the screen, all eagerness and amusement.

"Ah-ha! Well hello there, o weird little brick device. some sort of tiny television-mirror? I lend my face to you happily, it is a thing that should be shared. ...Now. Tell me how you work."

He looks out from the screen expectantly, clearly assuming that it is just going to start explaining things.

[He's been here for over a month now. It's so strange to stay in one place for so long, with no problem to solve, no Tower to go after. And he'd gotten so used to Eddie, and Jake, and Suze, and Oy. Being back in New York without them is still surreal.

Even still, he has not been idle. He's been working quite a bit, fixing up a building and getting things together. Scrounging where he needs to, finding hidden caches where he could.]

I find without a Tower to seek, my mind turns to how I taught Eddie and Susannah to be Gunslingers. I have the time to take on a moit of 'pprentices if anyone has the inclination.

When the hand finally moves, the face of a young girl... no older than 7 appears on the screen. Her brow is bent with worry and she pulls at her hands.]

Brighten the city? [She looks up at the "sky."] However am I to do that? [She sighs.] Oh dear... Alice whatever have you gotten yourself into now? New York? A looking glass or rabbit hole is one thing... but the Americas? [Those who know better will recognize the upper British dialect.]

Maybe this is just some sort of dream... [She hopes. She finally looks down at the box in her hand.] And whyever did those people hand me this box! What am I supposed to do with it?

[She brings it close to her face before looking at all the buildings.] And everything is so tall! This simply can't be the Americas! Unless the Americas are nothing but giants!

Oh I do wish someone would explain things better...

He's walking along, toward the exit, still all decked out in his Mantle of the Champion armor, I see. But dat staff! The staff has definitely changed. I mean just look at that big fancy thing he's got strapped to his back.

He's grinning from ear to ear as he strolls toward the exit.]

You know, just once I'd like to go a week without running for my life. Dealing with the Carta isn't much of a vacation. Hey, Masters, if you're trying to kill me, I'm sure you can think of more creative ways than insane dwarves who want to drink my blood or dance in it or whatever it was they do.

[Barking can be heard in the background, followed by 'hey don't chew on that.']

At least the trip wasn't a complete waste of time. Swann, Zelda, hope you don't mind an extra mouth to feed.
